From the Inside Out
Helping incarcerated individuals find dignity and purpose through helping others
Most rehabilitation programs focus on providing support, but we can flip the equation here again, and give people the to step into roles as problem-solvers and changemakers themselves.
This project is about creating a program that allows incarcerated individuals to lead small, personal acts of impact, ways of helping others that are rooted in their own interests, concerns, and experience. Whether someone is serving a long sentence or preparing for life after prison, this can be huge in terms of restoring dignity, purpose, and a sense of agency.
Examples might include:
Sharing life lessons through short videos to reach at-risk youth
Teaching sign language inside the prison, inspired by a deaf family member
Offering peer mentorship to help new arrivals navigate prison life with dignity
I’ll bring the framework, tools, and behavioral science behind why this works. You’ll help shape how it’s introduced and scaled, designing a model that could work across multiple prison systems or jurisdictions. There’s no single format - we’ll figure it out based on what’s possible and what has impact.
